How to play

Fill every square with one of two symbols under three rules. Never three of the same in a row, across or down. Every row and every column holds as many of one symbol as the other. And no two rows are alike, nor any two columns. The first two rules are local — you can apply them by looking at three squares — but the last is about the whole board, so the endgame is usually a comparison between two nearly finished lines rather than another run of three.
